Blue Mountains
2025 marks the third year that our community in the Blue Mountains, NSW has come together during Parkinson’s awareness month to celebrate with local stories of resilience and achievements to inspire each other and exchange valuable insights on the benefits of physical exercise. And of course, we are so proud to have danced at the heart of this celebration bringing dynamic rhythms, warm connections and joyful laughter that uplift us all!
The day unfolds in a beautiful charming heritage cottage in Blackheath where this special gathering is made possible through the generosity of its owners that host the event in heartfelt tribute to a beloved family member who lived with Parkinson’s.
Adding to the warmth of the day, the local Country Women’s Association provides a delicious selection of treats that nourish our body and spirit, delighting the many moments of meaningful interaction.
Year after year, this event reaffirms the ongoing support and deep connections within our community as a source of strength and encouragement that we continue to rely on for our holistic wellbeing.
Sydney
All of our Sydney classes have thrived in Term 1 and our community is growing!
Our Concord class has a new home at the Community centre and we thank Concord Rotary and Concord Hospital for their generous financial and administrative support.
Many of the Sydney classes have been a hive of activity this first term of 2025 with guest teachers bringing variety and fun into our regular weekly routine. From flamenco flicks, to hip hop moonwalks and singing focus – to voice projection & acting under the theme of the Greek Gods with our regular guest pianist and actor, Phillipe, our participants have embraced the fun. These guest teachers have been made possible by generous support of local Councils (Mosman, Waverley, and Georges River) as well as Waitara Magpies and Hornsby RSL.

Maitland
March was an opportunity for us to take part in The Seniors Festival in Maitland.
With the support and promotion of Maitland City Council, we had several opportunities to reach a wide part of the community. Dance for Parkinson’s classes, as well as additional classes suitable for Seniors were targeted.
We offered a free trial class, using a voucher system for the month of March, enabling participants to experience what we have to offer. This ranges from Chair Yoga to Low Mobility to Dance Fitness as well as Dance For Parkinson’s. The Council shared resources both online and in booklet form for many weeks prior to the Festival.
The highlight was The Seniors Expo, where we were able to network with various groups in the area, chat to members of the public and generally share knowledge. This event has been an outstanding success for spreading the news about the benefits of dance to our wider community and we look forward to welcoming new faces in our classes.
