The Macedon Ranges community recently celebrated the successful launch of the Moving Freely – Brain Health Pilot Program 2026 led by Angela Snowden. This initiative, specifically designed to support those living with Parkinson’s and other motor and mobility challenges through the joy of dance, has officially started.
A Meaningful Start on World Parkinson’s Day
The program commenced with a powerful initial class held on World Parkinson’s Day. Led by the certified Dance for PD Teaching Artist Katrina Rank, the session brought together participants to explore how rhythm and artistic expression can transcend physical limitations.
In collaboration with Dance for Parkinson’s Australia, the pilot demonstrated from day one that movement is a universal language—one that can significantly improve balance, mobility, and overall quality of life.
Since that first gathering, the classes have continued to provide a welcoming space for residents to connect and move. By focusing on the artistry of dance rather than the constraints of a diagnosis, the group is fostering an environment where confidence and community connection take center stage.
Get Involved as the Journey Continues
While the pilot is now well underway, its impact is only just beginning. Whether you are living with Parkinson’s, a caregiver, or a community supporter, there are still ways to engage. For more details on the program’s progress or to inquire about future sessions, please visit the Dance for Parkinson’s Australia website or contact the organizers. The Macedon Ranges is officially on the move!
