We have been busy establishing Dance4wellbeing programs and connecting with the community in local towns. Highlights include celebrating Harmony Day at the Hilltops Gala, which featured a showcase of cultural dances and songs from Nepal, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The town of Young continues to demonstrate rich diversity through its Lebanese and Arabic community open days and the annual National Cherry Festival’s Multi-Cultural Day.
Additionally, as a recipient of the Dance for PD® Launch Grant, Dance4wellbeing organised a special event during the NSW Seniors Festival and the Hilltops Off the Beaten Track Arts Festival. This event included an information session on the Dance for PD model, a “taster” seated class, and morning tea provided by the CWA. The event was a success, with many participants signing up for our upcoming series of free classes.
We would like to thank Dance for PD®, CWA (Young branch), Uniting Church Young, 2YYY radio, the Phoenix Newspaper, and the Hilltops Council for their support. Our Dance4PD & Mobility program will officially start after Easter, inviting all seniors with limited or lower mobility to participate.
