Western Australia Update – September 2025

By August 30, 2025No Comments

Happy DJILBA Season!

Our COMMUNITY CLASSES are back for the new term! Our new class at WA Ballet have begun, and it was a delight to return back to these beautiful studios. Together with the brilliant Koorliny and magnificent Dalkeith classes, we continue to offer weekly, studio classes across communities in Perth. Thank you to each of the dancers who attend classes each week, giving us reason to create exciting and inspiring class content, and to our partnering councils (City of Kwinana, City of Nedlands).

Outreach Classes

We continue to extend our outreach classes to numerous aged care partners, and are so pleased with the positive responses, new incoming and repeat bookings. We deliver regular Seated Dance classes to residential aged care in the north, south, east and west areas of Perth. We look forward to teaching the regular and welcoming new participating partners. Bookings for 2026 will open in October.

We are trialling two ZOOM Class, at a time suitable for residents of Western Australia. Supported by a recent donation to Dance for Parkinson’s Australia (specifically) for the WA classes, we have dedicated that donation to trialling two FREE Zoom classes on Friday September 12 and 19 at 1:30 – 2:30pm (AWST). We would love to have you join us on the screen. A 50 minute class followed by social time. If you have access to ZOOM, and you would like to join the class, please email lifespan.dance@gmail.com to register.

Ageing Well Expo

We attended the Ageing Well Expo again this year, presenting a sample of Lifespan seated dance sequences. There was a terrific response, with around 80 people dancing in their seats. Huge thanks for the invitation to present,  and great to see some of the Lifespan Dancers in the crowd.

Curtin University Research Project

Lifespan Dance was selected by Dr Emily Corti, Curtin University, as an organisation that her 4th year Psychology Students could study, to develop an Evaluation Plan. The students created a 53 page report and received high-distinction marks. It is an incredible document and a delight to read. Thank you Emily and students for your fantastic work. We look forward to partnering with Dr Corti, and students in the future.
